Food distribution initiative was set up due to the alarming needs of our community. Each month, close to 500 community members receive essential food productions during the food distribution. A special food distribution takes place before the holiday of Nissonu, servicing close to 1,000 families in the community.
During the height of the pandemic in May 2020, Gorsky Kavkazi Jewish Center of NY took on an enormous endeavor of distributing close to 1,000 packages of food and essential goods to community members. This project was made possible thanks to the generous donation of a a prominent community philanthropist – Mr. Slavik Nisanov. The packages were home delivered throughout all neighborhoods of Brooklyn.
A special food distribution takes place before the holiday of Nissonu (Passover). The project was initiated over 10 years ago by a prominent sponsor Mr. Slavik Nissanov. Since then every year community members receive lavish food and produce in honor of the holiday.
The food distribution project provides essential food products to close to 500 registered households in our community on a monthly basis. Every month, the demand for this service keeps growing. The food products vary each month and include essential items such as flour, oil, chicken, produce, rice and other items. Community members are very grateful for this initiative. Special membership cards and an app have been developed to keep the food distribution process quick. It’s an efficient way to distribute hundreds of products in one day.
